Row K Entertainment launched in 2025 as a US theatrical distribution company focused on wide-release, star-driven and filmmaker-led films with global appeal. With a growing slate and an audience spanning moviegoers, press and industry partners, its website needed to establish the company quickly while providing a flexible platform for what came next.
The brief
We were asked to design and develop Row K’s new website ahead of launch, creating a platform capable of supporting the business as its film slate expanded. The initial requirements included individual film pages, press and media resources, mailing-list functionality, audience tracking, merchandise through Shopify and a custom content management system. Just as importantly, the site needed to give the Row K team enough flexibility to manage new releases and content without relying on developers for routine updates.
I have been working with BakerWilcox for more than 20 years for numerous websites, brand identities and marketing collateral. I consider them to be a premier creative design agency.

The execution
We approached the build with efficiency and longevity in mind, keeping the codebase lean while creating enough flexibility for Row K’s requirements to grow over time.
A custom content management system gives the team control over films, editorial content, press materials and other key areas of the website. Shopify was integrated through its API, allowing merchandise associated with individual titles to sit naturally within the wider film experience rather than operating as a disconnected store.
Performance was considered throughout development, from the underlying architecture to the way imagery and content are delivered. The resulting site remains visually rich while keeping page weight and unnecessary processing to a minimum.
The result
The finished platform gives Row K a fast, flexible digital home for its film slate, with the tools needed to manage content internally and expand the site as the business develops.
At launch, the site achieved Lighthouse scores of 100 for Performance, 98 for Accessibility, 100 for Best Practices and 100 for SEO. Its estimated carbon footprint was 0.07g CO₂e per page view, supported by hosting using sustainable energy.
That combination of performance, maintainability and low data transfer makes Row K a useful example of the principles behind our approach to lower-carbon digital development.
