Blue Finch Films is an independent film sales and distribution company working across UK releases and international markets. Its slate spans commercial and critically acclaimed feature films and documentaries, from carefully targeted digital and home-entertainment campaigns to nationwide theatrical releases.

The brief

We were supplied with a copy of the movie and asked to create the official UK release key art for You Cannot Kill David Arquette, supporting a planned theatrical release followed by its launch across digital platforms. When renewed COVID-19 restrictions prevented the cinema rollout from going ahead, the artwork became the defining identity for the film’s home-entertainment release and wider promotional campaign.

BakerWilcox have helped us bring many films to market over the years. They have a wonderful ability to deliver time and again, with their unique talent for original, thoughtful design and their instinct for seeing each project through the eyes of global audiences, regardless of genre.

The execution
The final artwork places David Arquette firmly at the centre of the story, using a full-length image that exposes both the physical cost of his return and the determination behind it. Rather than presenting him as a polished Hollywood star, the bruised, tattooed and battle-worn portrait gives the campaign an immediate honesty, positioning him somewhere between actor, wrestler and underdog.

The final artwork draws on the theatrical excess of professional wrestling, acid-yellow details allow the review stars, quotations and festival recognition to cut through the composition with the visual force of classic fight-promotion graphics.

The title treatment combines a formal, authoritative introduction with expressive, hand-rendered lettering. “You Cannot Kill” sets up the challenge, while David Arquette’s name crashes across the artwork with the rawness of paint, tape and ringside signage. Angled black panels break up the layout and give the typography a physical, assembled quality.

The finished artwork is deliberately unruly but carefully controlled, capturing the humour, vulnerability and bruising determination at the heart of Arquette’s attempt to rewrite his place in wrestling history.

We explored Mexican wrestling aesthetics and introduced a vivid magenta palette, chosen to make the artwork feel loud, irreverent and impossible to overlook.
